We have obtained Planning and Building Warrant for this new house in Aberdeenshire. The house replaces a ruin on the side of hill facing South towards the Angus Hills to the West and the sea to the East. The site posed several Planning challenges : The rural location, its archaeological interest and prominent position. The house is designed to be very compact but include 4 bedrooms and an artist’s studio. The traditional appearance is in response to the clients desire to ground the new building in its local and historical setting. Although fulfilling all the modern sustainable standards, this design champions time honoured materials and skills with its stone and lime rendered walls and slate roof.
