Catnish Cottage, Bridge of Orchy
We are approaching completion of work on this 19th Century cottage situated on the banks of the River Orchy in Argyll. The cottage is completely off-grid, accessed by a forestry track. The cottage was in an advanced state of dilapidation when bought by the Clients. Work included a new roof covering with major roof structural repair, new floor structures and a complete strip out of all interior finishes and stud walls back to bare stone. Materials and fittings were carefully set aside for re-use once the whole internal shell had been re-built and re-insulated. A New electric underfloor heating system was added to allow trickle heating from a planned small scale hydro scheme. Two new stoves with, one with back boiler for the cottages hot water supply and one for cooking have been installed and the whole house re-plumbed and wired.
